Anyone who reads a daily newspaper such as The Washington Times will regularly see references to public opinion polls. MSNBC’s Chris Hayes Hypes ‘LGBT Injustice’ During Interview With 18-year Old Woman Charged With Sex With Minor
→ NewsBusters blogs | 23 May 2013 | 10:15 am MDT
As my colleagues at NewsBusters have documented, the liberal media have already jumped on the bandwagon to defend an 18-year old Florida woman with unlawful sexual conduct with a 14-year old girl, saying authorities are only pressing charges because she's a lesbian. On Wednesday evening, MSNBC’s Chris Hayes joined the media frenzy by declaring this case an example of “LBGT Injustice.”
On the May 22 edition of "All In," Hayes featured 18-year old Kaitlyn Hunt, her mother Kelly Hunt-Smith and their attorney Julia Graves to hype what Hayes remarked was an “incredible story.” With the on-screen graphic titling the segment, “LGBT Injustice,” Hayes made clear he sympathized with Hunt's plight, not merely because she's a senior in high school facing a serious criminal charge but because this was an opportunity to allege that bigotry against lesbians was animating the criminal justice system in central Florida:
There were people at the news conference today wearing t-shirts that said "stop the hate," and my sense from following this is that your belief is that the parents of the girl in question called authorities because this was a relationship between two teenage girls.

Student Loan Hype: Networks Focus on Debts 245 Percent Higher than Average
→ NewsBusters blogs | 23 May 2013 | 9:59 am MDT
Recent college grads are in a tough spot, with student loans that need repayment and an economy that is leaving many of them underemployed or worse. But the network news media have exaggerated individual burdens of student debt by using examples of enormous rather than average debts. They’ve also often ignored systemic problems that have led to the “crisis” of student loan defaults, at the same time that the left has called for bailouts.
When network news stories include college students who talk about how much they owe for their education, the average amount was a whopping $66,833. But the 2012 average student loan debt, was much lower: $27,253.

Networks Tout Obama's 'Renewed Focus on Transparency' in War on Terror; No Mention of Benghazi

While the three network morning shows on Thursday all promoted President Obama's "renewed focus on transparency" in an upcoming national security speech, none of the broadcasts made any mention of the administration's deception in the ongoing scandal surrounding the terrorist attack in Benghazi.
On NBC's Today, White House correspondent Peter Alexander declared that Obama would be "highlighting new efforts to bring about transparency and even new restriction in the so-called hidden war" while citing "evidence of that renewed focus on transparency" in the form a Justice Department letter to Congress officially acknowledging the already widely-reported fact that drones were used to kill American citizen and terrorist cleric Anwar Al-Awlaki.

From an unfazed Los Angeles Times:
UnitedHealth, Aetna and Cigna opt out of California insurance exchange
By Chad Terhune | May 22, 2013
Some prominent health insurers, including industry giant UnitedHealth Group Inc., are not participating in California’s new state-run health insurance market, possibly limiting the number of choices for millions of consumers.
UnitedHealth, the nation’s largest private insurer, Aetna Inc. and Cigna Corp. are sitting out the first year of Covered California, the state’s insurance exchange and a key testing ground nationally for a massive coverage expansion under the federal healthcare law.
If we aren’t mistaken, United Health was a major supporter of Obama-Care.
Meanwhile, the biggest insurers in the state — Kaiser Permanente, Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California — are all expected to participate in the state-run market for individual health coverage…
Until they work up the nerve to drop out.

Gang of Eight: Immigration reform bill won’t add to the nation’s deficit
By Alexander Bolton | May 23, 2013
Members of the Gang of Eight say their immigration reform bill will not add a dime to the nation’s deficit.
Isn’t that the exact same thing Obama said about Obama-Care?
That anticipated Congressional Budget Office (CBO) score will defy conservative policy experts who recently claimed the measure would cost trillions of dollars.
Because giving 11 million (plus) illegal aliens welfare and ‘Earned Income Credit’ and Obama-Care will be offset by all the income taxes they pay.
And never mind that the vast majority of these people will pay no income taxes. Instead, they will get money back from the IRS, via the Earned Income Credit and other scams.

What does a murderous jihadist terrorist have to do to get some recognition for his cause? True, the ABC CBS and NBC evening broadcasts called the attack “terrorism,” but for all the information they gave viewers, the attackers might have been Basque separatists or animal rights zealots.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa said Wednesday that he might recall Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner to testify on the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, if counsel determined that she had waived her Fifth Amendment rights by delivering an opening statement. But as of Wednesday evening, Lerner’s lawyer said Issa had not acted to recall Lerner.

MSNBC’s Finney On IRS Scandal: ‘Why Didn't Romney Make More Of A Big Deal Of It?’
→ NewsBusters blogs | 22 May 2013 | 6:29 pm MDT
You can take the flack out of the DNC but you can't take the DNC out of the flack, especially it's MSNBC regular and newly-minted weekend host Karen Finney, who today said that Mitt Romney should have made a bigger deal out of the IRS scandal on the campaign trail. The only problem, of course, is that no one knew about the IRS's malfeasance until well after the election.
On Wednesday's Now with Alex Wagner, Ms. Finney claimed that, "Everybody knew about this investigation long before the election. So, if they were that freaked out, why didn't Romney make more of a big deal of it during the election?" Fortunately for viewers at home, former AP reporter Ron Fournier, now with National Journal, corrected Finney's ridiculous speculation. [See video after jump. MP3 audio here.]

Do you worry about alienating your constituents?"

The Senate Judiciary Committee voted Monday to allow illegal immigrants who get legal status to begin collecting tax-welfare payments, as the panel spent a fourth day working through amendments to the massive immigration bill and party-line splits began to emerge…
Overall, the committee continued to maintain the delicate balance struck by the “Gang of Eight” senators who negotiated the 867-page bill..
But on Monday, the two Republicans sided with their party colleagues on key questions on giving illegal immigrants public benefits.
The 10 Democrats on the committee still outnumber the newly unified Republicans, but the votes signaled tough fights ahead on the Senate floor.

The Obama scandals: nothing to do with managers (executives) instructing workers to harass conservatives. They didn’t have to. Obama gave them orders from the Rose Garden as the world watched live on TV. Leon Eisenberg, scientific father of ADHD: ‘ADHD is a prime example of a fictitious disease’ Obama isn’t running for office again. Liberalism [...]

Wknd Box Office: Star Trek Into Darkness, The Iceman, Erased, The Company You Keep
→ Debbie Schlussel | 17 May 2013 | 6:04 pm MDT
By Debbie Schlussel Not much to love among the new movie releases at theaters, this weekend. * “Star Trek Into Darkness“: I did not care much for this first sequel to the Star Trek reboot (which I much preferred, read my review). It was long, kinda silly, and by Director J.J. Abrams’ own admission, the [...]

Bureaucracy In Action
→ Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler | 17 May 2013 | 5:52 pm MDT
As most of you know, I recently found myself within the ranks of the unemployed and am really just loving the ever living shit out of dealing with bureaucracy in action. I’ve decided to swallow what little pride I’ve left and apply for whatever crumbs the Lonestar State chooses to give me, but I’m wondering

Yet Another Muslim Cigarette Smuggling Ring in America Financing Islamic Terrorism – HAMAS, Hezbos, Qaedas in NYC
→ Debbie Schlussel | 17 May 2013 | 3:32 pm MDT
By Debbie Schlussel Over the years, I’ve written about many Muslim cigarette smuggling rings throughout America. In every case, they are funding either HAMAS or Hezbollah. And now there is one that fronts for both AND Al-Qaeda. Yup, this is what higher cigarette taxes do for Islamic terrorists: they transfer money from the mostly poor, [...]

WTF?! Obama US Ambassador, Embassy Officials DID WHAT?! (MUST WATCH VIDEO)
→ Debbie Schlussel | 17 May 2013 | 9:57 am MDT
By Debbie Schlussel As I’ve previously noted on this site, U.S. Embassies apparently exist solely to help the interests of America-haters and give them an opportunity for visas to the U.S. Now, President Obama’s hand-picked U.S. Ambassador to Costa Rica, “Dumbassador” Anne Andrew, has enlisted her U.S. Embassy employees in this ridiculous music video (a [...]

EXCLUSIVE: Homeland Security Agent on BRAVO Reality Show: “Look @ My Fruity Gay Marriage,” Whines About “Sex Drive Gap” – Violates DHS Policy
→ Debbie Schlussel | 16 May 2013 | 3:00 pm MDT
By Debbie Schlussel DebbieSchlussel.com has learned that Department of Homeland Security (DHS) policy (and that of each of its sub-agencies) prohibits its federal agents from identifying themselves as DHS employees on television reality shows. Apparently, Jeff Pedersen didn’t get the memo. Or, more likely, an exception was made by the gay cabal that “runs” much [...]

Angelina Jolie’s BRCA Gene Mutation Means Anti-Israel Actress Likely Has Jewish Roots; Heroine? ObamaCare Won’t Cover Gene Test
→ Debbie Schlussel | 16 May 2013 | 11:00 am MDT
By Debbie Schlussel For years, I’ve written about actress Angelina Jolie’s anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian, pan-Arabist activities, and now I know why she hates Israel and the Jews so much: she likely comes from Jewish ancestors. Jolie’s recent disclosure that she had the BRCA1 gene mutation linked to breast, ovarian, and other cancers is common in Ashkenazic [...]

San Diego County Taxpayers Association slams Poway USD for bonds that were endorsed by the San Diego County Taxpayers Association
→ PoliPundit.com | 11 May 2013 | 6:46 am MDT
Union-Tribune: The San Diego County Taxpayers Association on Thursday issued its annual awards for bad government — and good. [...] The group gave its top award, the Grand Golden Fleece, to the Poway Unified School District for a $105 million bond issue that will cost taxpayers nearly $1 billion to repay. The unfavorable rate structure was exposed by former reporter and blogger Joel Thurtell of Michigan last year. $105 million that will cost $1 billion? Who would approve of such idiocy? Oh. That’s right, the San Diego County Taxpayers Association: The bond also had considerable cachet, thanks to a coveted endorsement from the San Diego County Taxpayers Association. Indeed, association President Lani Lutar’s name was first on a list of five local dignitaries named on the ballot as supporting the bond. (Full ballot argument with Lutar’s signature here.) The San Diego County Taxpayers Association represents developers and crony capitalist interests, not taxpayers. It is a pay-to-play organization, and its board and executive committee are a who’s who of people doing business with government agencies. No doubt some of them expected to get lucrative construction contracts from the Poway school bond. Lutar herself is a government insider with no taxpayer advocacy [...]

The Southern Poverty Law Center is a hate group
→ PoliPundit.com | 25 Apr 2013 | 7:02 am MDT
In the distant past, the Southern Poverty Law Center was once a legitimate civil rights organization. Sadly, it is now a complete farce and a left-wing political machine, labeling everyone to the right of David Brooks a “hate group.” Well, by its own standards, the SPLC is clearly a hate group, as domestic terrorist Floyd Lee Corkins admitted in a videotaped interview that he was inspired to shoot up the Family Research Council’s headquarters by the SPLC’s hate rhetoric.

Proved: Global warming is bullshit
→ PoliPundit.com | 3 Apr 2013 | 1:38 pm MDT
The Gaian faithful’s doomsday is nowhere to be seen: In a lengthy article this week, The Economist magazine said if climate scientists were credit-rating agencies, then climate sensitivity – the way climate reacts to changes in carbon-dioxide levels – would be on negative watch but not yet downgraded. Another paper published by leading climate scientist James Hansen, the head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, says the lower than expected temperature rise between 2000 and the present could be explained by increased emissions from burning coal. For Hansen the pause is a fact, but it’s good news that probably won’t last. International Panel on Climate Change chairman Rajendra Pachauri recently told The Weekend Australian the hiatus would have to last 30 to 40 years “at least” to break the long-term warming trend. But the fact that global surface temperatures have not followed the expected global warming pattern is now widely accepted. Research by Ed Hawkins of University of Reading shows surface temperatures since 2005 are already at the low end of the range projections derived from 20 climate models and if they remain flat, they will fall outside the models’ range within a few years. “The global temperature standstill [...]

If a married man has children by a mistress, shouldn’t he be allowed to marry the mistress as well? The “voice of the children“ demands that he be allowed to do so! If a brother and sister have children, shouldn’t they be allowed to marry? The “voice of the children” demands that they be allowed to do so! If a Muslim man has children by four wives outside the United States, shouldn’t all four marriages be recognized by the United States? The “voice of the children” demands that they be recognized! If a man and a woman have children without being married, shouldn’t they be compelled to marry? The “voice of the children” demands it!

The central planning will continue until the economy improves
→ PoliPundit.com | 25 Mar 2013 | 7:02 am MDT
… or, Government which has proven itself incompetent in pricing mortgage risk to continue indefinitely in the business of pricing mortgage risk. The inertia of central planning: [...] the future of housing finance in this country seems to be coming down to two taxpayer-backed concepts. One is the status quo, with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac continuing to back the vast majority of mortgages. The other is a newly conceived public guarantor with some of the same problems that got Fannie and Freddie into trouble. Let’s begin with the status quo. The taxpayer rescue of Fannie and Freddie in September 2008 has cost $137 billion so far. While this has been paid down from an initial $187.5 billion, taxpayers aren’t likely to get their money back anytime soon. Last fall, the regulator charged with overseeing Fannie and Freddie estimated that the taxpayer bill for the companies could be $200 billion by the end of 2015. Remember when University of Wisconsin professor Menzie Chinn mocked Sarah Palin for calling Fannie and Freddie “too big and too expensive to the taxpayers?” Who’s the idiot now? [The alternative plan's] details differ from the broken system that the commission aims to replace, but there [...]

Think Cyprus can’t happen here? It already did.
→ PoliPundit.com | 17 Mar 2013 | 8:24 am MDT
There’s two bulls standing on top of a mountain. The younger one says to the older one: “Hey pop, let’s say we run down there and f*** one of them cows”. The older one says: “No son. Lets walk down and f*** ‘em all”. - Robert Duvall in Colors The world was shocked this weekend to learn that the European Union would fund the bailout of Cyprus by confiscating the assets of ordinary bank account holders. Core Europeans and Americans no doubt comforted themselves that such a confiscation could never happen here. They would be wrong. In fact, it already has happened here. What occurred this weekend in Cyprus was a theft from responsible savers to benefit irresponsible banks. Small depositors get screwed while bank bondholders (largely other banks and large institutions) get made whole. Which, it turns out, is exactly what has happened in the U.S. the past five years. Bank CD rates were around 4% in 2008. Since that time, the Federal Reserve’s interest rate manipulation has kept CD rates pinned between 0% and 1%. This has allowed the banks to borrow at near-zero, whether from depositors or directly from the Fed, and invest in Treasuries or mortgage-backed [...]

Obama: the central planning will continue until innovation improves
→ PoliPundit.com | 15 Mar 2013 | 5:14 am MDT
It turns out somebody should have watched the State of the Union speech. Obama proposed yet another bad, Soviet-style, central planning program to fix the economy. Roll Call: At a closed-door meeting between President Barack Obama and House Democrats, [Michigan Democratic Rep. Dan] Kildee introduced himself as a freshman, to which Obama said, “Wow, you’re really classing up the place then.” Kildee then proceeded to ask what one person described as a somewhat “long-winded” question about the importance of creating jobs for his economically distraught district. “I can tell you’re a freshman because you didn’t pay much attention to the State of the Union,” Obama joked. “I talked about that.” Amid the resulting laughter, House Democratic Caucus Chairman Xavier Becerra of California then offered to provide Kildee a printout of the speech. Obama was referring to his $1 billion proposal for 15 manufacturing “innovation centers,” the details of which are still somewhat hazy. Because nobody does innovation like federal bureaucrats. Weren’t there about 15 districts in The Hunger Games? One Innovation Center for each of them. How convenient.
