Interview with President Harry S Truman
What A Contrast! Harry Truman vs Barack Obama.
Actually, putting “Obama” in a sentence with “Truman” is political blasphemy but I wanted to make the point.
David Susskind interview in 1961:
ex-President Harry Truman (54:47)
Listening to Truman is fascinating. He stumbled in his speech just like GWB but, like Bush, the message is what counts and Truman’s words had substance. I dare any Obama admirer to compare Truman’s grasp of foreign affairs, world leaders, American history, the Constitution, what’s good for America, and other subjects of national importance, to Obama’s.
Truman’s favorite presidents were Washington, Jefferson, Jackson, Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Woodrow Wilson and Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Truman (speaking in 1961) said other than presidents, the greatest contributor to America in the last 30 years was Gen. George C. Marshall.
His bona fides as a 1961 liberal are revealed about 23:00 to 24:00 minutes into the video. Among other things, he lauds SCOTUS for “finally” finding the word “welfare” in the Constitution.
Also he highly rates FDR for the New Deal and other social programs. He even liked Grover Cleveland’s first term. And, he rates Wilson among the greats.
Too bad about his liberal slant, but the difference between then and now is that Truman was more than willing to persuade America that his concepts were beneficial to the people.
Truman is quite a contrast to the George Soros Marxist now in the White House.
