Rahm Emanuel: From A 1999 Coup To A 2009 Putsch
Return us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear! From out of the past comes the thundering rhetoric of Rahm Emanuel!
We’re now finding why voting for the lesser of two evils is superior to wasting votes on “3rd party” candidates.
In 1998 it was revealed to the public that Bill Clinton, with his hitman Rahm Emanuel, planned to “reengineer” the results of the 2000 decennial census. The idea was to order the Census Bureau to statistically adjust the 2000 census results so population numbers would square up with what Democrats wanted to favorably re-apportion seats in the U.S. House. Congressional Democrats had been incrementally working on the idea for many years and thought adjustments would apply in 2000 but once the secret was leaked, the SHTF.
Congressional Republicans promptly went to federal court and in January 1999 the Supreme Court ruled against the use of statistical sampling methods to obtain population figures for determining how many of the 435 seats in the House of Representatives go to each of the 50 states.
In that same ruling, SCOTUS issued a mind-boggling undemocratic opinion. They upheld the idea of using statistically adjusted figures, when feasible, for other purposes, such as distributing hundreds of billions of dollars for state and local programs as well as for determining congressional and state district boundaries.
However, on the main point, the Constitution prevailed.
The front man for Clinton during the 1998 coup attempt was White House advisor Rahm Emanuel. Now he’s back as Obama’s Chief of Staff and it’s pretty clear that what Emanuel couldn’t achieve by cheating in 2000, he’ll try to get through subversion in 2010:
Obama’s plan to have the Census director report to the White House [to Rahm Emanuel] in addition to the Commerce Department has sparked protest from some Republicans, who accuse the president of a political power grab. One GOP lawmaker is pushing for an investigation into the planned move.
It had better do more than “spark protest.” If the dumb asses don’t get moving and get back into federal court, you can bet the 2010 census results will come from Emanuel’s head instead of from tally sheets.
This doesn’t need investigation. All that’s needed is: why was control moved from the Department of Labor to the White House?
