Enough GOP Hypocrisy, Already
If Republicans hope to ever regain political momentum they had better start cleaning house, now! Part of the antiseptic that’s badly needed is to start denouncing the enemy within, or even throw the bums out.
GOPers with an IQ in double digits knew that NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg was never a Republican but they let him hang out in the Party until it no longer suited his purposes. Then, when he was in position to do the most damage, he sanctimoniously announced he was turning “independent”, which is more Bloomberg bullshit.
However, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger of California is still a pretender and now he’s at it again. IBD is calling him out but GOP leaders everywhere need to call for him to admit he’s just another liberal Democrat.
Investor’s Business Daily:
Two prominent “Republicans” are using the financial crisis as cover to raise taxes. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger must not escape blame.
The Ego That Ate New York is joining forces with the Tax-inator to give the post-election Republican Party a bad name. Of course, longtime Democrat Mayor Bloomberg was only a Republican when it suited his purposes, and left the GOP in 2007.
And in the case of the seven-time Mr. Olympia and Kennedy-by-marriage who replaced Democrat Gray Davis in a 2003 recall election, Schwarzenegger made a Democratic ex-Davis aide named Kennedy his chief of staff; the erstwhile mega movie star has routinely broken with his party on an array of fiscal and social issues, and his anti-emissions diktats make him inarguably the most extreme environmentalist governor in the country of either party.
Both Bloomberg and Schwarzenegger risk devastation of the already beleaguered economies under their care by enacting massive new taxes. It comes at a time when the ill effects of such measures might well end up being falsely blamed on outside forces — rather than on these two shameless tax hikers.
