Dear Readers:
Please accept my apologies for the abrupt departure from blogging. I can only offer the following scenario as explanation.
As Memorial Day weekend approached we were notified of the death of a beloved brother-in-law and that his wife, my oldest sister, is in very poor health. Then, almost immediately afterwards, we found out that a close nephew had suffered a heart attack. (He seems to be on the way to recovery.)
As those pieces of bad news hit we were notified by our doctor’s office that some test on my wife of 48 years had come back and indicated that we should rush her to the emergency room. Once she was in the hospital and stabilized we began a life-altering effort for our future. That process has moved on to Duke University’s Medical Center in Durham, N.C., where she has undergone emergency surgery and seems on her way to joining the rest of us in preparing for our future.
We learned today (June 15) that another sister has been admitted to a hospital in Charlotte and the prognosis is not good.
I was able to come home today for a break and take the time for this brief note. I will return to Duke Medical Center tomorrow and continue the vigil.
I hope I can return to blogging in a week or two.
Thanks for your patience.
Frank Laughter
